Summer Odyssey 2012 - Disneyland Day 2

Our second day in Disneyland found us prioritizing: Big Coasters, Cars Land and California Adventure, and then more Big Coasters.  The plan was to close out the park, and the kids had no intention of leaving the parks until we had done so!  Thanks to the parent switch-pass program, we were able to collect switch passes and Fast Passes for most of the big rides.  We did Matterhorn, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Railroad several times each.  We also used apps on our phones to check waiting times for rides around the park and were able to find rides with shorter times - a very nice feature we didn't have last time we were there!

Still just floating gently along...not aware yet of the massive drop coming up...
...I was so worried that little Jake would fly out of his seat!  I held on to him the whole way down.

Hot and thirsty and tired, waiting for the double-decker bus.  It was fun to see Disneyland through Alex's eyes - we don't usually do the bus or boat or train, but this time we did!

Haley collected signatures and traded pins with workers.  Because rides are apparently not enough to keep a kid busy!  :)

In California Adventure we stopped for ice cream - delish.

The line for Monster's Inc. was not moving very quickly, so we passed the time making faces for the camera.  Here - scary faces.

 Sad.

 Excited.

 Ready to fight.

I'm not sure what these are!

Cars Land had just barely opened the week before we got there, and it was a ZOO.  We're talking multiple-hour-long waits for the bigger rides.  Rob went over early that morning and was able to get one fast pass for the Lightning McQueen ride, which we gave to Haley (Jake wasn't tall enough to ride it alone).  Despite the crowds we were able to go on a few rides and walk around Radiator Springs.  They have done a really nice job with it, and as big Cars fans, our kids loved it.

The Mater ride was really fun.

While the others were on a ride, Alex and I got to meet Lightning McQueen - Ka-ching-a!
The red rocks looked really amazing as the sun set.  We happened to be nearby when one of the Cars characters (DJ) started a dance party in the street.  All the kids - and most of the parents - got out there and shook it - so fun!

On the Ferris wheel on the pier at CA Adventure.

Alex and I went on the Little Mermaid ride while Rob took the older kids on the Hollywood Tower or Terror.  Haley was freaked the whole time, but Jake about died laughing because he loved it so much.  What a little daredevil.

One more time on Space Mountain!
Jake's thoughts about Disneyland: "When I went to Disneyland, I had the BEST time of my life!  My favorite rides were Splash Mountain and Space Mountain.  Oh, and the Tower of Terror!  I wish I could go there every day!  End of story."

And a few more signatures...by this point Rob and I were so totally worn out, we could barely take one more step.  It had been such a crazy whirlwind with the wedding and the drive and Disneyland, that we were looking forward to getting to grandma and grandpa's house to relax for a few days.  It actually sounded good to get back in the car so that we could rest our feet for a while!  We had a wonderful few days though, and it was worth it for the memories we made as a family.  We'll be back soon, I'm sure!
